The National Park of Casentino Forests is a protected area between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. Ancient forests, ancient mule tracks, pilgrimage routes and nature trails to explore on foot or by bike.
The great Pratomagno massif joins the valleys of Casentino and Valdarno and offers incredible treasures to lovers of nature tourism. The famous iron cross that dominates the valley from 1592 meters of altitude, is the symbol of Pratomagno. The area is famous for the immense lawn that covers almost the entire ridge and that makes it a unique and fascinating territory.
Less known but no less suggestive, the Balze del Valdarno represent a unique opportunity for excursions in Tuscany: made up of sand, clay and stratified gravel, they are very special mountains that reach heights of about 100 meters and intersperse with deep gorges. Watercourses, lakes, olive groves and vineyards alternate in this enchanted valley.
The Valle dell’Inferno Regional Nature Reserve, a protected natural area, extends for over 500 hectares. Rich in biodiversity, both faunistic and botanical, the reserve develops around the huge artificial basin of the Enel dam. The itineraries of walking tours cover panoramic hillsides, steep walls dug by the waters, forests and marshy areas.
